Unfortunately, in some states and other countries, any doctor can call themselves a cosmetic surgeon so it is very important that whether you are having cosmetic or reconstructive surgery, you should make sure your surgeon is a Specialist Plastic Surgeon and a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
All surgical procedures carry risk however, you can reduce the risk of complications by consulting a Specialist Plastic Surgeon who is trained, qualified and accredited to perform cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
Mark Hanikeri is a well known and respected Specialist Plastic Surgeon.
Mark has his practice in The Western Australian Plastic Surgery Centre located in Subiaco.
Mark has a great love for people and this is evident when his patients meet him for the first time, and often he feels as though it is not the first time they have met. Mark is a kind and caring person who understands that surgery is about people.
Some of the procedures that are performed by Mark Hanikeri include:
In his role as Director of Operation Rainbow Australia, Mark is passionate about giving back to the community both here in Australia and overseas.
Operation Rainbow works only in the poor provinces of our host countries and must provide all equipment, medicines and support materials for its missions. The provincial hospitals provide rudimentary operating theatres and a ward for the children to recuperate.
Operation Rainbow’s volunteer medical teams serve indigent children in need of this life-altering surgery. While over 90% of the patients are children, the team also operates on adults in need of reconstructive surgery.
The children and families who attend an Operation Rainbow mission have often travelled for days on foot to be treated. While host country hospitals always pre-screen patients, Team members are often overwhelmed by the number of patients who line the halls of the hospitals during the mission.
The Operation Rainbow team performs surgery at no cost to the patients’ family. It costs Operation Rainbow approximately $500AUS per patient each surgery.
